NUROMAX binds competitively to cholinergic receptors on the motor end-plate to antagonize the action of acetylcholine, resulting in a block of neuromuscular transmission. This action is antagonized by acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, such as neostigmine

چکیده

NUROMAX (doxacurium chloride) is a long-acting, nondepolarizing skeletal muscle relaxant for intravenous administration. Doxacurium chloride is [1α,2β(1'S*,2'R*)]-2,2' -[(1,4-dioxo-1,4butanediyl)bis(oxy-3,1-propanediyl)]bis[1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6,7,8-trimethoxy-2methyl-1-[(3,4,5trimethoxyphenyl)methyl]isoquinolinium] dichloride (meso form). The molecular formula is C56H78CI2N2O16 and the molecular weight is 1106.14. The compound does not partition into the 1octanol phase of a distilled water/ 1-octanol system, i.e., the n-octanol:water partition coefficient is 0.

Clinical pharmacology of neuromuscular blocking agents.

The clinical pharmacology of neuromuscular blocking agents is described. During neuromuscular blockade, succinylcholine attaches to receptors in the motor end plate and depolarizes the neuromuscular junction, making the end plate refractory to acetylcholine. The nondepolarizing relaxants have a structure similar to that of succinylcholine and bind to the same receptors. Instead of depolarizing ...

P 25: The Facilitatory Action of Snake Venom Phospholipase A2 Neurotoxins by Which Increase the Release of Acetylcholine, May Improve Alzheimer\'s Disease Symptoms

Introduction: In a serious brain disorder like Alzheimer's disease, the levels of acetylcholine (Ach) drop significantly. The gradual death of cholinergic brain cells leads to a profound loss of memory and learning ability. Acetylcholine is the chemical messenger that sends messages from one neuron to another in the area of the brain used for memory. Many of the current medications act to enhan...

Organophosphorus (OP) compounds are cholinesterase inhibitors widely used as pesticides in agriculture and nerve agents in battlefields. Exposure to these compounds leads to accumulation of acetylcholine at cholinergic synapses and overstimulation of muscarinic and nicotinic receptors by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. Seizure activity is one of the major manifestations of OP poison...
